Who will be at MYC?

The primary attendees of MYC will be uni students from around NSW and Victoria. There are students from over 15 universities planning to attend, so MYC will have lots of opportunities to spend time with old and new friends.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Who is MYC for?

MYC is designed especially for tertiary students, but anyone with an interest in attending is very welcome. We will have families, graduates, and friends joining us. Final year high school students and young adults will find MYC most beneficial.

Can I invite friends who are not part of Student Life?

You certainly can; MYC is for all young adults who have a desire to grow in their relationship with God, whether they are just finding out about Him or have been Christians for a long time. Most of the input at MYC will beneficial to anyone journeying with God, not just those specifically involved in Student Life.

Can people who are not Christians come to MYC?

Yes, everyone is welcome to attend MYC regardless of their spiritual background. If you are investigating and asking questions about God and spiritual issues, MYC is a great opportunity to connect with people happy to chat in a relaxed way about this. You won't be asked to participate in any activities you don't feel comfortable with, and there will be alternate options available during things like small group ministry training.

What will we do at MYC?

The program each day at MYC combines Bible teaching, small group practical ministry training, worship, and plenty of free time which has optional activities. There is time scheduled each day to spend some time alone with God, and also to connect with a small group of people to encourage each other during the week. MYC is designed to help you connect with God and with those around you.

Will there be free time? What activities are there?

There will be free time most afternoons and evenings. Optional activities will be available, but you're very welcome to use that time to have some downtime from the program. The activities will include things such as mini golf, tennis, swimming in the indoor heated pool, soccer on the oval, board games, craft, karaoke, and other opportunities to connect with others around fun activities.

Is it an issue if I don't know anyone else going to MYC?

There are plenty of opportunities to get to know people at MYC, in fact MYC is designed for people who may now know many others. You'll be assigned to a specific group of about 5 people to meet as a prayer and reflection group throughout the week, as well as geting to know others in your training group, and from your state and uni during the 'Get Connected' time. Fun free time activities throughout the week are another great opportunity to meet new friends.

What do I need to bring?

You can find a list of what to bring with you to MYC on the What to Bring page.

What is the accommodation like?

The MYC venue, Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort, has self-contained cabins , each with a bathroom, lounge room and kitchen.

Who will I be rooming with?

You'll be allocated a cabin with 3 - 5 other people of the same gender (except in the case of families and married couples). During the registration process you can indicate if there are people you would particularly like to room with and we'll do our best to put you with at least one of those people. However if you don't have a particular preference or if you don't know anyone else at MYC, you'll be placed with people from your campus or region so you can get to know some new friends.

Can I come part time?

You are very welcome to come to as much of MYC as you're available for; before you register, contact us to let us know when you're planning to attend and we'll let you know the part time rate for that time and give you special instructions for registering.

How do I pay?

When you register you will be able to choose from two payment options: credit card (with incurs a small processing fee), or bank deposit. A bank deposit can be done via online banking or by taking your money into a Commonwealth Bank branch and depositing it into the MYC account.

I can't afford the cost of MYC, what can I do?

We know that MYC can be expensive for students, even though the value is good. We don't want finances to be a barrier to anyone attending, so if you're not able to afford the cost of MYC, please contact your Campus Registrar to find out about the subsidies available. If your campus is not listed, contact us and we'll put you in touch with the right person.

If your question isn't answered here, please contact us.

Why should I attend MYC?

Student Life’s MYC is specifically designed to help you - as a student in NSW, Victoria or ACT - join with other students from your campus in living out Jesus’ commission in your everyday life. At MYC you will build and deepen friendships with fellow students that will continue to grow through the rest of the year. We’ll be talking about things immediately relevant to your situation on campus, and providing practical skills that will help you follow Jesus more closely in second semester. And you will come to understand how and why Student Life does things on your campus, and where you fit and what you can contribute.
